Turkish Delight

October 29th is Turkey's Republic Day.  You're probably wondering why I'm mentioning this and what it has to do with Portugal.  Well, Eric was given then opportunity to attend a Republic Day party at the Turkey embassy in Lisbon.  Naturally, he chose me to be his date.

That might have been a mistake...

In my defense, the two guys behind me are making faces too.

I have a hard time behaving in these kind of situations.  

It was a nice party.  They had lots of yummy Turkish hor d'oeuvres, including Turkish delights and caprese-like bites.  

 

But these parties aren't very fun when all you can sip on is water or orange juice.  In fact, they're quite boring if you stay sober (which we gladly chose to do...not saying anything against not drinking).  Beside a speech by the Turkish ambassador, nothing else happened. Just a bunch of dressed-up people snacking, drinking, and "conversating," as Eric puts it. We stayed long enough to fill up on goodies, then split so we could put on jammies, jump into bed, and watch The Simpsons.  

We're classy like that.
