Wondrous Wardle Wedding

Just a few days ago, I got back from a super quick trip to Boise, Idaho for my little sister’s wedding.  It was a whirlwind of a trip with so much to do, so many family to see, and too little time.

The plane didn’t get good until the second plane I hopped on going between Seattle and Boise.  It was a little puddle jumper, and I ended up getting my own row (better for napping).

Flying into the sunset somewhere over Idaho.
Idaho has the best sunsets.
The following morning was spent prepping Tiffany for her big day.  Mom steamed the wedding dress while Hillary and I worked on her hair.  Grandpa even helped when he and Grandma paid a visit.

We were going for a sorority girls' look.  Gravity was too much.

The dress!
Then we were off to the Boise Latter-day Saint Temple!

Very pretty, inside and out.

This is where, at 11:00am, Tiffany and Nick became Mr. and Mrs. Wardle for time and all eternity.  It was a very sweet ceremony in a room filled with all their loved ones.

So cute it's disgusting.

The whole Bardin-Wardle (Wardlin?) crew.

Aren't they just cute!

Right after the pictures  were taken, a luncheon put on by the Wardles with delicious pulled pork and various sides.  It was a great time to mingle with the Wardle family and to get to know these people who we are now stuck with—or rather who are now stuck with us—forever.

That night was a reception for the Idahoans.  The decorations were very cute and in Tiffany’s colors (red, black, and yellow) to bring in her Minnie Mouse theme.

A little while ago, Eric and I read this article about how the cake cutting ceremony gives insight into how the marriage will be.  We didn’t tell Tiff or Nick about this beforehand, so we were interested to see what their marriage fortune would be as told by their cake testing.

Apparently, they’ll have a loving but playful marriage.  It will be cute. Disgustingly cute, but cute nonetheless.  Not bad, Wardles.

Here are videos of the dances at the reception.  I dare you to watch all three without tearing up.
The first dance was to “A Drop in the Ocean” by Ron Pope.  The back story behind them choosing this song is actually pretty funny.  Basically since they’ve met, they’ve been watching The Vampire Diaries together.  Apparently, this song was featured in an episode and instantly became “their song.”

The father/daughter dance was to “Dancing with Cinderella,” a favorite of my parents.  My mom tried to convince me to make this one my father/daughter dance, but I didn’t feel like it conveyed my and my dad’s relationship—“Have I Told You Lately that I Love You” or “Benny and the Jets” are better songs for us—but it seemed perfect for dad and Tiff. (The video wouldn't attach, so here's the link.)

As they danced, I thought of my dance with my dad and the special moments we had in that one song (post about that here).  I imagine Tiffany and dad had their own personal and precious moments.  Two down, one to go, dad.

The mother/son dance was to a song I hadn’t heard before, “A Mother's Song.”  It was just as sweet as the father/daughter dance.  It was obvious that Nick and Michelle (his mother) truly love each other.  Nick is the first of five boys to get married in his family.  One down, four to go.

After the reception, I hung out with mom, dad, Hill, and Alex until we were too tired to talk.  In the wee hours of the next morning, I left Boise and headed back to my other half.  I never understood that saying until this trip.  It’s cliché, but I really didn’t feel whole until I was reunited with Eric.  I had mixed feelings getting onto the plane; I knew I wouldn’t see my family until December, so I was already missing them, but I was heading back to Eric, so I was ready.

On a side note, Hillary came up with a brilliant idea for what Tiff and Nick should be for Halloween this year:  Teenage Mutant Ninja Wardles!

I have major editing skills.

  1. Just to clear things up, we didn't get our song from VD. We were listening to it in the car after we got engaged and we decided that we wanted that to be our first dance. But I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Wardles idea!
